Purpose: This study was done to investigate the correlation among sexual function, self-esteem, and health behaviors
in middle-aged men with coronary artery disease (CAD).
Methods: Data were collected from 89 middle-aged men at a general hospital in Seoul between May 8th 2017 and Sep
30th 2017. A structured questionnaire was used to measure the study variables. Data were analyzed using descriptive
statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson¡¯s correlation coefficient using SPSS 23.0 software.
Results: Sexual function and self-esteem were positively correlated(r=.44, p<.001), self-esteem and health behaviors were positively correlated(r=.46, p<.001). Health behaviors and sexual function were positively correlated(r = .32, p=.001).
Conclusion: The findings of this study Indicate that sexual function and self-esteem are significant variables related to health behaviors in middle-aged men with coronary artery disease. Therefore, nursing interventions should be developed and applied to promote health behaviors in patients with coronary artery disease by considering sexual function and self-esteem.
